Privacy Policy

Last updated: SITE_LAUNCH_DATE

The short version: this site collects as little as it can get away with, does not sell anything to anyone, and carries no advertising.

What is collected

Analytics. Aggregate traffic measurement — page views, referring sites, approximate region, device type. This is used to see which pages people find useful. It is not tied to a name, an email address, or an identity.

Contact form. If you use the contact form, the name, email address and message you submit are sent to me and stored with the site's form records so I can reply. Nothing else is attached to it.

Server logs. The web host records standard request logs, including IP addresses, as part of operating the server. These are retained by the host under their own retention schedule.

What is not collected

  • No accounts, no registration, no profiles
  • No advertising networks, no ad cookies, no retargeting pixels
  • No selling, renting, or sharing of any information with third parties for marketing
  • No newsletter list unless and until one is added, which this page will say

Cookies

The site sets only the cookies WordPress requires to function. If you leave a comment or log in, WordPress may set cookies for those purposes. No advertising or tracking cookies are set.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Nothing on this site breaks if you do.

Third parties

Some pages embed nothing at all; where a page links out to a university extension service or other external source, following that link takes you to a site with its own privacy policy, which this one does not govern.

The site is served through a hosting provider and a content delivery network, both of which process requests on the site's behalf and handle logs under their own policies.

Your requests

Write to me through the contact form if you want to know what the site holds about you, want a contact form submission deleted, or want to correct something. I will action it and confirm. There is very little to hold, so this is usually a quick exchange.

If you are in a jurisdiction with statutory data rights — the GDPR in the EU and UK, or the CCPA in California among others — those rights apply here and the request route is the same.

Children

This site is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. A change that affects what is collected will be noted on the page rather than made silently.
